The Biostatistical unit is responsible for ensuring that projects conducted through the GCRC
have sound study design and an appropriate plan for the statistical analysis of study data.
To facilitate this, we encourage consultation early in the process of preparing a formal
application
for use of GCRC facilities. All submissions to the GCRC's Scientific Advisory Committee are
reviewed by one of the GCRC statisticians.
Let us help you with your study design.
GCRC statisticians offer consulting on experimental design, data collection issues,
randomization procedures, sample size/statistical power calculation, and data analysis
planning. Please contact us. Phone numbers and email addresses are listed in the
Quick Help box above. We also recommend that you
consult
with other GCRC units.
Once a project has been approved by the GCRC Scientific Advisory Committee, we offer guidance
to investigators on executing statistical analyses and interpreting results. Access to
Stata statistical analysis software is available on a
limited basis. Please consult with us regarding your statistical software needs.
In addition to project-specific consultations, the GCRC offers a variety of general
biostatistical training opportunities. Our current offerings are described on the
Education
page. The study design course and software training sessions are open to investigators
involved in current or prospective GCRC projects. The seminars are open to anyone. All
training is provided free of charge. No academic credit is earned for participation. For
a schedule of all upcoming events, please check our News
& Events page.
