Cystic Fibrosis Therapeutics Development Network
The Cystic Fibrosis Therapeutics Development Network is a non-profit, national network of
specialized clinical research centers, core laboratories, and interpretation centers. The
TDN's primary purpose is to facilitate development and conduct of early phase clinical trials
to evaluate new therapeutic agents. These trials may involve investigational drugs,
investigational devices, new biological agents, or approved agents not currently approved for
use in cystic fibrosis. In addition, the TDN may conduct clinical studies to identify
appropriate outcomes for future trials in cystic fibrosis. Each new TDN trial strives to
improve study design and/or clinical outcome measures, accelerating the development process
while continuing to protect patient safety and welfare.
The TDN Coordinating Center, located at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center,
provides the infrastructure necessary to expedite studies, assure proper study conduct,
and maintain statistical support for the network. Funded primarily by grant support from
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics, Inc, the TDN is also supported by the
National Center for Research Resources
through the University of Washington GCRC. Industry sponsorship is an important source of TDN
funding as well.
